Family Lawyers

Relationship Breakdown:

We understand that the breakdown of a relationship is a very difficult time for a client. As affiliate members of Resolution we adhere to the Code of Ethics, to ensure that the matter is dealt with in an appropriate manner.

Our Approach

We look to provide a complete range of services to assist both the family lawyer and their client, including:

  • Analysing and checking the accuracy of information available from both parties
  • Assisting in gathering any outstanding information
  • Preparation of a detailed report to consider all the options available and whether to divide the assets, including pensions benefits to provide equality of capital or income
  • Providing recommendations for suitable financial products including pensions, investments and protection
  • Implementation of any pension sharing and attachment orders
  • Managing the client’s investment portfolio and future financial planning needs
  • Liaison with and recommendation of actuarial services, if required

We can also provide a full range of financial planning services, including cash flow projections, inheritance tax planning, mortgages, equity release and investments, whilst our colleagues in the Chartered Accountancy practise are able to assist with taxation and business valuation issues, if required.

Our Expertise

Our team is amongst the most highly qualified and experienced in the UK, in this complex and specialist area of financial planning. We are able to assist family lawyers, regardless of whether the breakdown is being dealt with by means of mediation, on a collaborative basis or through the courts. We can supply expert witness reports, on either a sole or joint basis, as required.

Specialist Qualifications & Authorisations

Our team of specialists hold all the qualifications required and a number of others which are also relevant. Those which are particularly relevant to this area of advice include:

  • Chartered Financial Planner
  • Certified Financial Planner
  • Chartered Tax Adviser
  • Associate of the Pensions Management Institute
  • Resolution Accredited IFA

Our Costs

We provide a ‘time costed’ fee based service. However, it may be possible for our fees to be settled from any financial products that are put into place, on implementation.

We do not charge to offer a preliminary view of the case, unless the work required to do this is likely to be significant. That way, both the lawyer and the client can be sure that our involvement will add value, before incurring any costs.
